Search continues for shark off Sydney’s Northern Beaches

Authorities continue to search for a shark that plagued Dee Why Beach and Long Reef Beach yesterday.

The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter flew over all Sydney beaches early this morning for any signs that the shark is still in the area. The search found a shark still looming at Dee Why Beach and another at North Narrabeen Beach. All beaches were given the all clear to open on the return flight as no sharks were spotted.

DEE WHY — Dee Why and Long Reef Beaches were closed this afternoon and rescue helicopters called after it was reported that a shark attacked a surfboard.

The Daily Telegraph reported that Danny Sheather, 23-year-old off duty lifeguard, was surfing between Dee Why and Long Reef Beaches when he felt a knock against his board that pushed him to his knees.
