Teen charged over brutal Forestville assault

FORESTVILLE — A 16-year-old boy from North Ryde was charged with the alleged assault of Liam Knight overnight.

Mr Knight, 17, was celebrating his friends 18th birthday when a group of gatecrashers invaded the Forestville home. A fight ensured that left Mr Knight with a steel rod at over 2 meters in length embedded in his head. Mr Knight is still in an induced coma with serious head injuries.

It is also alleged that the 16-year-old boy was involved in another incident at the Forestville home where he punched another boy who was attending the party.

The boy who was arrested at Surry Hills Police Station was charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of common assault, affray, and breach of bail. He was refused bail and will appear at Bidura Children’s Court today.
